About the Role

The Social Educator supports participants living with a disability to expand their life skills by developing new interests, enhancing ability to seek employment and developing communication skills that help to increase social and functional independence.  The role is responsible for:

  • Developing individual support plans by working with participants to identify their personal goals
  • Collaborating with Training and Work Skills Managers to develop lesson plans
  • Facilitating classes and one-to-one tutorials
  • Working alongside participants to support them in Work, Learn, Connect activities
  • Reporting on goal achievement as detailed in Participants' Service Agreements
  • Leading & caring for participants during offsite trips

About You

To be a successful candidate for this role you will have:

  • The ability to undertake the duties of the role in accordance with CatholicCare’s Mission, Vision and Values and its Code of Ethics and Conduct
  • An understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to develop individual training and support plans
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Current NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) and evidence of completion of the NDIS Quality Safety and You course
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Current Drivers Licence and willingness to drive and operate within Sydney metropolitan areas
  • Certificate IV in Disability and/or relevant experience in delivering skills-based support to people living with a disability.
