About the Role

Our Counsellors are based in one or more schools (Primary/Secondary) and support student well-being through, but not limited to, the following activities:

  • Individual and group therapeutic counselling services and referrals for students, family members and advice to school staff
  • Providing services to the school community, including workshop/education sessions for students, parents and staff
  • Supporting the school community during and after critical incidents
  • Liaising with other agencies and external services where appropriate.

  • Hourly pay rate of approx. $45.23-$48.70, plus superannuation.

There are multiple casual positions available and they will be located across the following local government areas: Auburn, Bayside, Burwood, Canada Bay, Canterbury Bankstown, Fairfield, Georges River, Hunters Hill, Inner West, Lane Cover, Liverpool, Mosman, North Sydney, Randwick, Ryde, Strathfield, Sutherland, Sydney and Waverley.

About You

To be a suitable candidate for the role, you will require:

  • Current registration with Psychology Board of Australia; membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or clinical membership with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia
  • Experience and skill in providing counselling services to children and adolescents, and their families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of children and adolescent development and mental health issues
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients
  • Experience in delivery of group work and presentations, including small group programs to students and the capacity to develop and deliver social and emotional education to staff and parents.

In addition, school counsellors are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC), a current NSW driver’s licence and access to a comprehensively insured motor vehicle.
